Novillero - Aim Right For The Holes In Their Lives
Novillero is a band made up of indie-rock bands such as Transonic, Bulletproof Nothing and the much lauded Duotang. They have had a previous release on Endearing Records but now on Mint, hopes are high for their sophomore album, Aim Right For The Holes In Their Lives. Now Novillero is much more pop than any of the foremost mentioned bands. They are more along the lines of label-mates The New Pornographers but even more classy. They don't really possess any of the qualities you might think from a band with a Spanish name but that doesn't stop them from create pop bliss. It's quite funny to have an album by this title and have some of the coolest pop songs ever plastered all over it. Tracks such as "Abbey" are just so amazing and instantly likeable that I will be surprised if Novillero doesn't get some recognition. The only thing that may hold these guys back is the boring album art. The inside cover would have made a better outside cover. But with regards to the music, if you like good catchy pop you should check out Novillero. It's a fun listen.
