Snow Machine is primarily Katharine McElroy with help from a handful of people. She's got that cute female indie voice figured out and with the release of her debut album some people are bound to pay attention. So don't mix this band up with Snow Patrol from the UK, that would be a tragic mistake. McElroy has been in a couple bands previously but now is her time to shine. She takes on almost all of the instruments and does a great job at it. The album opener, "Birmingham", is perfect sign of the pop bliss to come. The piano seems like the main instrument on more than a few of the songs. I found that by the time the album was over I was wishing for a little more variety. There is some but not quite enough to fill the whole album. Female vocalist lovers should definitely flock to Snow Machine. I don't think Snow Machine will have a lot of legs but it should stick around on the college charts for a little while.
