I like wallowing in self-pity as much as the next person; but isn't the point of doing so, especially as an artist, to find some way out and some insight? Just whining about it and forever, unless you are Morrissey or Staind, isn't becoming. The Junior Varsity are yet another emo band that tries to cash in by crying about problems we all had at 13. That this is an actual genre still stuns me. "What it Meant To be Free", "I'm Home, Hooray!" and well, the other nine songs on Wide Eyed only make me wish these guys would date my ex-girlfriends, or other people I have wished would fade away with regret. At least punks had the decency to either sell-out or stay pissed until no one listened anymore. Emo will not fade away; it will become soundtracks to Lifetime romance flicks.

Yeah, I'm not going to take some mainstream media who name drops the word emo to be cool.

Seems your wrong there, Symphony. If AMG says they're emo, then they're emo. Still waiting on bands today that fit into your "emo" category. You seems to have a different view than most. But then again, A Junior Varsity review is no place to take on this argument.

This wrong on so many counts--this actually a terrible written review, starting off with TJV not being an emo band at all. And his girlfriend was murdered--that never happened to me when I was 13.
