Beware, this is as gentle an indie rock album as you can pretty much get. That aside, Marjorie Fair is a pleasant band to listen to provided the listener is in the right mood. It has a bit of a 60s Beach Boys vibe at places especially when they do the harmonies like on "Please Don't". On a lot of the tracks I even get a bit of the country flair of Beachwood Sparks such as "Silver Gun". Slamka does have a great voice for this type of music. You might even hear the odd comparison to Jonathan from Mercury Rev. The odd time that reference point cropped up. Some of the songs are somewhat grandiose in delivery like the impressive "Empty Room".
So ultimately Marjorie Fair is a band suited for that late night listen on headphones. Once smitten by the band you might share it with someone close.
