Taking its cue both from ambient minimalism and cool jazz, this first full length CD by the Drift finds them exploring ideas that were only hinted at on their many 12 inch singles. "Gardening, Not Architecture" and "Inconsistency Principle", the two best songs on here, are "taken from Brian Eno's 'oblique strategies' card series"; they sound more like unused tracks from Bitches Brew: sparse, barely there horns, slow rhythm building to a fragile but tight groove. "Invisible Cities", more structured, gently rocks and rolls. These former members of Furniture and Halifax Pier even advise you to read Italo Calvino too! The Drift set the mood even without words with Noumena.
