Morcheeba - The Antidote
I can't help but feel that Morcheeba has been floating now for a while. There really isn't anything new that the band brings to the table but then again comfort can sometimes lend itself nicely to some background music. That's exactly what The Antidote has been for me for an entire day and it has provided me a great soundtrack for some hardcore work I have been doing. It doesn't say much for the attention grabbing aspect but overall the music is pleasant and non-abrasive. I don't know how they got lumped into the trip-hop category when they first came out. They are too organic to be any sort of hop. If anything they might be considered light-funk. They do dive into a groove and manage to keep it interesting for an entire song and the album isn't really that repetitious. The new vocalist, Daisey Martey provides a very soulful set of pipes but really not that much different than Skye. It's a great album for a cocktail party.
