I've always had a soft spot for Pennywise but never really been a huge fan. I don't find their music catches me quite the way a lot of other So-Cal punk bands do. Their music is good and always has a message but never quite reaches that level where you want favorite bands to be. And really, Pennywise has just as much charisma as any other band of the genre. There really isn't anything wrong with tracks like "Stand Up" or "Disconnect" but it doesn't leave me wanting more like bands such as No Use For A Name or Strung Out. I would imagine if I listened to and album like The Fuse over and over again I might get sucked in but there is not much on the surface to make me want to do that. As I said, not a bad album but not super compelling either. How's that for a two sided review?
