I was just going through my archive of CD’s that haven’t quite made it to my CD player for review and came across the debut of As Friends Rust. This is a perfect case for a paper envelope packaging literally slipping through the cracks. No graphics or anything came with this disc, save a one page tear sheet. And it’s not like I don’t know who As Friends Rust are. I have become quite fond of them after listening to both their Doghouse EP and their Equal Vision debut. Won is a great CD that warrants this late review. It provides me with the stepping stone that I needed in order to go from their EP to their great Equal Vision album. Won kicks off with a good indicator of where you will be taken throughout the album. “We On Some Next Level Shit is a melodic hardcore track like I have never heard before. In fact, the entire album is fast as Strung Out and has some really catchy vocals in there as well. If you are a fan of either hardcore or punk, you definitely should check out some of As Friends Rust’s material. It’s fucking hot!
