Talk to any metal fan and most will claim to be a Priest fan at sometime in their life. While many will declare British Steel to be the essential Judas Priest album, I tend to lean towards Defenders of the Faith (or possibly even the later Painkiller) as the be all and end all. This was my first introduction to Halford and his leather-clad buddies so that could be the reason for the place in my heart. How can a metal fan not get chills up their spin upon listening to the likes of the heavy "Love Bites" with it's chugga chugga guitars? Or the metal anthem "Some Heads Are Gonna Roll"? Defenders is the shit when it comes to Judas Priest. The only track not on here that I could argue is better than any of these songs is "Breaking The Law" from British Steel. Priest is also a little strange because it's rare that you hear anyone dissing them. So bow down before the gods of heavy metal of old and pay your respects with one of the most solid metal albums to ever hit the shelves.
