Soul Food DJ Free assembles a guest cast for another fun run of ambient funk breakdowns, as Moodfood. Vocalist Julia Messenger (Kraftwerk), pianist Peter Schimke (Julie Cruise) slide player Greg Leisz (Wilco, Beck) join in to create a mix of Asian and African rhythms, mix with smart hip-hop, lounge and drone. "Martini House", "Sensan", "Drift", "Shaken not Stirred" shuffle and sparkle with cool and funk. As the title suggests, these are smooth grooves with cocktail hour mixes. DJ Free mans the helm with an encyclopedic knowledge of world music as well as kitsch. This is another great mix from Soul Food, which is becoming a force for anyone who is listening.
