Immaculate Machine is the debut album from this Vancouver based trio. There is some funny story about one of the vocalists, Kathryn Calder discovering that she is the niece of one Carl Newman. So you may know that Kathryn's vocals and keyboards are all over the latest New Pornographers album. So carry that over into Immaculate Machine's debut and you have a catchy, sugary pop album with male/female vocals in about equal doses. I get a big Magnetic Fields vibe on quite a number of tracks, "Phone Number" in particular. Ones and Zeros is an impressive album and should ensure that this band has a good start to its career.
