Architecture In Helsinki don't even live in Europe. This rather large band resides in Australia and they have finally made a splash with their second full-length album. In Case We Die is my first exposure to the 8 piece band and after about 3 listens I was sold. They are a quirky pop band, not unlike The New Pornographers, that have a great sense of melody and some interesting thoughts on song arrangements. The album is very diverse and present a lot of surprises, none to surprising that they turn possible fans away. The 12 songs vary from heavy electro-clash style songs like "Do The Whirlwind" and the quite dramatic pop song like "Neverevereverdid", which is a whole rock opera in one song. They then move right into pure pop territory with a lot of tracks, a stand out being the lively "Frenchy, I'm Faking". In Case We Die is one of this year's highlights for sure making Architecture In Helskinki a band to watch.
