Kyuss - ...And The Circus Leaves Town
While ...And The Circus Leaves Town kind of gets a bum rap for being Kyuss' swan song it does deserve to have a second look at. Sure, it may not have the sonic blast that some of their previous albums had but it still has redeeming qualities. Take the second track, "One Inch Man" for instance. It has one of the coolest riffs in stoner metal. Even the tracks of lesser quality still maintain that heavy thick sound that was their signature. On most tracks you start to hear the guitar sound that would become Josh Homme's and Nick Oliveri's Queens of the Stone Age sound. Back when Circus came out I couldn't stand "Gloria Lewis". Now I think it's brilliant. Oooh, and it's got a bonus track. Probably the mellowest Kyuss track you have ever heard, and the last song heard by the band too. I've said it before that Kyuss was way before their time and it's a shame this kind of heavy music isn't being made today. Again, probably one of the least all-round albums out of Kyuss' catalog but it still is a strong album that I feel has stood the test of time. Don't agree with me? Sound off... See if you can track down 3 For 1. Their three last albums all in one package.
