I know this release has been out before on Sanctuary records but it looks like it is getting re-released on Savoy Jazz. It seems like an interesting label to be pushing the soft Saint Etienne but provided this album gets the right attention it should do quite well. Sarah Cracknell's vocals are better than ever on Tales From The Turnpike House. Some tracks are very disco oriented like "Stars Above Us" but for the most part Turnpike House tends to be a little mellow than what fans may be used to. It's not a far cry from recent albums. There is no reason why longtime fans would find fault in this release. Give a few listens before you draw your own conclusion. It ends up growing on you quite nicely after a couple listens and tracks like "Oh My" get ingrained in your head. I quite enjoyed Tales From The Turnpike House, despite their attempt at doing a concept album.
