Prurient - Black Vase
Prurient's mix of piercing noise and short bursts of thrash set them apart from most noise bands. There is an intent in their music that often delivers the fear most noise promises. That they originally came from Providence, RI, the home of true noise genius, is no surprise. "Sorry Robin", the title track, "Back Cuts"?, "Whipped Hole"? explore the dark regions of where pain and beauty meet and circle each other, each finding something to like. S/M artwork reminiscent of Japanese explorers Merzbow and photographer Araki pack a punch as well. Prurient are here for the long haul, and seem prepared to remain fearless.
