Memories start flooding in right from the opening chords of “Human Car. In a perfect world, it would be The Ex, not Bad Religion, influencing the new Gen. While The Ex had their melody close by, they came up when hardcore was raw, defiant, and pissed on the idea of hits. That idea seems quaint in the age of Warped, but there you go. Our parents were embarrassed by their parents for being too tame; punk bands today seem embarrassed by their forefather’s fearlessness. Don’t wanna blow that MTV reality show. The Ex have kept it real all the way, and Rollins, never mind BR, can’t say that. This is an essential purchase, and lesson for anyone who still cares. Go out tonight and get this; they’ll repeat Fear Factor during sweeps.
