No, not Slowdive, as I've typed about 5 times with reference to this Deep Elm rock act. These guys have been plugging along for about 5 years now and I don't know if anyone is really catching on to their slightly retro indie rock style. They take a lot from bands like Jawbreaker and Doughboys and really update the sound to be surprising relevant and refreshing. C/S is Slowride's third album, all for Deep Elm, and while they don't really change all that much you can notice a refinement in their sound. According to the bio that came with this album, C/S is an acronym for con safos, translating roughly to "Don't Mess With Us". On tracks like "Elouisa" the band prove that the title is just. It could be a Meat Puppets track for all intents. These guys like to pack a punch in their music and this album is no exception. "R.H." heads down the path of boring but the gentle "For Lola" magically pulls them out. It is a fine example of an indie 90s style that never made it to the big time (and probably never will as shown by the little exposure that Slowride is getting).
