Hardcore can't come any harder than Silence the Foe. This seven song EP from Norway's own grinds with the best, raging full, yet tossing in odd chord changes and tempos that add new colors to the bluster. The real hero of the set is drummer Peter Rudolfsen, whose fat backbeat and compelling intros make it the lead instrument on the attack. Vocalist Marcus Forsgren typically shreds his throat on many tracks-particularly on the outrageous "as the holy spirit carries me like angels"-but, unlike so many others in the genre, does not sound like he is screaming because he is supposed to. The rage sounds pointed. A new, full length record from Silence The Foe, Shaking Hallelujah, is due out at the end of April.
