It is fairly well regarded that Dennis Lyxzen is a good singer, songwriter, frontman, moving quite well from the post-hardcore sounds of Refused to the politically fueled rock of the (International) Noise Conspiracy. I'm not sure if I am alone in not being aware of his "solo" project The Lost Patrol but regardless, The Lost Patrol Band is the outfits third and latest offering. It is very impressive as well. Forget Refused, there is no indication that this is the same man. But there are some similarities to that of T(I)NC. This is a slightly mellower affair though but I think I actually enjoy it a little more than his full-time band. There seems to be a little more heart into it. It's a got a little more garage in it ala Teenage Head or something along that era. Especially the first track "Feels Like Drowning". There are a few tracks here that could have easily fit on a T(I)NC album had they had a slightly different production on them. He also leans slightly toward the power-pop side of things. The Lost Patrol Band has a great sound that shows us that Lyxzen is capable of many different styles. Not revolutionary but were solo projects ever supposed to be?
