My co-reviewer, Mike Wood reviewed the the single from Caroline, "Where's My Love" and gave it a glowing review. Having read that I couldn't resist reviewing Murmurs, the first full-length from Japanese born and bred Caroline Lufkin. In all honesty, Caroline's vocals are some of the most beautiful that I have heard since the Roisin Murphy solo album. Caroline's voice is much more fragile indeed. She has some very Bjork-like arrangements behind it but it is her voice that stands out and makes this much different. Some of the songs are very bright and could easily be AOR radio hits like "Pink & Black". Forget everything that you know about Japanese pop. Caroline has been influenced greatly by the Western world that she stands out. Murmurs is a fantastic debut and should provide a great starting point for Caroline's future.
