Victory moves along with its pop/punk/emo catalog that it seems to have ventured with lately. Count The Stars is the newest addition to the family and their album Never Be Taken Alive should turn some heads. It’s good chunky pop/punk that will appeal to fans of the Reunion Show and Blink 182. The only thing with Count The Stars is that there isn’t really anything to make them original. Case in point; I listened to it about 2-3 times before I even really caught anything. Finally I knew that I needed to get a review done so I forced myself to pay attention. When I did this I did realize that Count The Stars does have talent but they need to focus on even more catchy riffs. Ones that scream out “Listen To Me!� There is very little emo here. Their focus is more the power pop/punk with chugga chugga riffs. If you got stuck with this album on a 12-hour road trip you would have most of the lyrics figured out. This is a band that will grow up nicely and I think I will check in again next album to see if the boys have found themselves yet. Never Be Taken Alive is not a bad album, its just lacking a bit in the originality.
