Recently I was at the Taste Of Chaos tour in which I was exposed to quite a few newer hardcore bands such as Greely Estates and The Smashup who were quite impressive to say the least. Another band that could have easily filled in for either of these bands is the youthful Versus The Mirror from Tucson, AZ. They are a new signing to the influential Equal Vision label and Home is the band's debut full-length. They have the typical screamo feel to them, you know, fairly melodic heavy music that would be radio friendly if it wasn't for that grating singing of Davey Seibold. Now, tell me this Davey, Does your voice get sore? How do you do it? Regardless, this heavy music could use a little more edge with the guitars and the rest of the instrumentation but for a debut album, it's half decent. I would suggest that Versus The Mirror think about looking outside the box. This screamo thing is very saturated and it is kinda hard to stand out in the crowd right now. And what does "Versus The Mirror" mean anyway? You're ugly? I don't know.
