The Red Tree marks Toronto based band Moneen's second album for the impressive Vagrant records. If you liked Are We Really Happy then you should be overjoyed at The Red Tree. This album pulls out all the emo stops and with Brian McTernan producing this album we get an even more polished sound. I found I had to listen to The Red Tree a couple of times in order to get full value from it. Apparently the band took some time off from touring to write The Red Tree, something they hadn't done before, instead opting for writing on the road. It's a powerful album that shows a band on top of their game. The 11 song titles are too long to reprint here, something that seems to be indicative of the genre they are in. But regardless the album seems to reach slightly beyond the limiting emo genre and provide the fans with a grander sense of music.
I would think that Moneen have probably polished this progressive emo sound as best as they cand and should think about throwing something else in the mix to keep it interesting, both for them as well as their fans.

I find this Moneen album to be nothing short of amazing. I love each of the songs, they come with such a burst of energy and passion. The lyrics for each of the songs, especially the hits, are amazing and seem to go with the music quite well. Everything just flows together with this solid album. Did i just contradict myself? Well, anyways, I would suggest everyone give this album a listen, you might not be a fan at first, as was i, but after listening for a little bit you will get sucked in. A completely solid album with amazing staying value. I gave this album a 10/10 stars.

Moneen's second album is like giving raw sugar to a six year old kid. It's good.
