Props to Hydra Head for re-releasing the legendary 6" from Massachusetts grindcore masters Agoraphobic Nosebleed. This 2 disc set allows us to relive the insanity of that original 10 song, 6 minute cassette, with an extra disc of remixes by those who have come after, but still see the shadow. The real meat, however, is hearing those early blasts of speeding rage, which show that this was a band whose inspiration came out of the gate at full bore.
Xanopticon, James Plotkin, Justin Broadrick, and even the Noise god himself, Merzbow offer their takes on the originals, riffing off them and extending the joyful violence. That such high-profile noisemakers chip in some sugar is a testament to their influence, and to the durability of their larger than life assault. Buy it, crank it up, stomp on it, pass it around; it can take as much abuse as it dishes out!
