"Six year old Skyler Pia created One World, One Kid to cheer up a friend who was very ill. Featuring tracks from Putumayo Kids CDs, Skyler delivered a charming world music radio show, touching the hearts and funny bones of kids and adults alike." This is actually on the CD liner notes. It give such a good description of the music contained on this Putumayo compilation. This album is much shorter than the typical Putumayo compilation but it is also much cheaper, $5.98 US. There is really only 6 songs complete with introductions from Skyler himself. One classic moment is when Skyler is introducing Trevor Adamson's "Nyangi Matilda", declaring it to be identical to the traditional "Waltzing Matilda". He sings the chorus for reference sake. It's this little bit of charm that really makes this a great compilation. I have found that my 3 year old doesn't really get into the Kids compilations from Putumayo but with Skyler's antics he gets attached to it. Other artists on the comp include Tete Alhinho, Polo, Desmond Dekker, Los 50 de Joselito, and Eric Bibb. And if you aren't sold yet 100% of the proceeds from this album will be donated to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
