Bleep is a Toronto-based electronica trio that is very cutting edge in sound. For some reason the uniquely packaged CD kept slipping down my to-be-reviewed pile but I have finally gotten to it. Datenbergbau is the group's sophomore effort after their debut IMM 0008. You might say that Bleep would be the perfect music to get someone into IDM music even though they can't be entirely typecast into this genre. The beautiful vocal sof Robyn Sellman are what set this project apart from other similar acts. The music is then distorted and electronically fucked up. There are also some similarity to that of Lamb or other slightly downtempo acts. In fact, if you cross IDM and Downtempo you might have a place for Bleep to reside. This album was over way to early with only 5 songs and one remix. It's a nice fusion of electronics and organic instrumentation.
The case is something that should have made me listen to Bleep much earlier. In fact, it is one of the reasons this album didn't get purged after a couple of year ends. The case is handmade in an origami paper case with ribbon binding. It really is a work of art.
