RecommendCall this a Super Session without the fat. Like the Stills/ Bloomfield effort, this is a collaboration of jams by two axe-wielding monsters, Zach Hill and Mick Barr. Unlike the Stills/Bloomfield effort, Hill and Barr actually let it rip throughout. The idea is not to show off mastery, but to split faces and scrape wax from the inner ear. "Lakes in Space", "The Bracelets for Coffin Life", and "Nerve Mechanics" are representative of the 19 track assault. Sheets of sound and Zappa-esque riffing dominate, with some of the best fast runs this side of Dr. Know. Barr, from Octis and Othrelm, and Hill from Hella have come up with a fun, brutal keeper, one that would fit right in at the Knitting Factory, on the soundtrack to Baby Snakes, and at Guantanamo.
