Pink is a hard album to believe. After the proven intensity of Boris on such great albums such as Akuma No Uta they have actually made a move into the more accessible. Really! If you have yet to check out this totally influential doom rock band from Japan then Pink is the album to get. By no means is this going to hit the Billboard but it wouldn't surprise me if we started to see Boris creeping up the college charts. Pink starts out with the spacey and almost atmospheric "Farewell". After that great introduction we are presented with a frenetic guitar riff and quite a pleasant distorted mess that is actually...catchy. "Woman On The Screen" is more punk than sludge metal but still has Boris' Melvin's influence. The blistering "Nothing Special" is actually quite special. It shows that the Japanese blokes know how to thrash. They go back to their trademark sound on "Blackout" but with an impressive guitar solo over top of the doom and gloom. It's obvious that this band is out to try something a little different and the whole album is a great metal experience.
