The ladies of Electrelane know their Can, as well as their Twin Peaks. Rock It To The Moon is their debut and it is full of hip musical references, from space rock, to Krautrock to sci-fi soundtracks, but they make it work without ever sounding artificial. This is a big wall of sound, one that is all the more impressive because it is their first record. The Farfisa is put to great use in "Long Dark" and "U.O.R." Filthy guitar riffs dominate the title track, and the band's pop sense shows on the noir-ish "Film Music" and the brooding "Many Peaks." This is a confident first record that is chock full of fun and spooky ideas that ought to keep them in business for some time.
