Same. While I believe I am more fond of Radiohead's body of work than Charles, The Bends never really clicked with me like some of their other stuff.

This one desperately needs to be reviewed. According to myself, Radiohead's The Bends is a certified classic and the only Radiohead album you can't do without.

Radiohead achieved what most bands fail at while making anthem rock on their second album "The Bends". They wrote songs that are not only accessible but are deep enough to hold on to for longer than two plays. Radiohead's 1993 debut album "Pablo Honey" wasn't bad, but the boys surprised everyone with their sequel. It took the heavily played radio hit "Creep" and created a deep, enthralling album full of those songs. Not only did they create twelve complex and very catchy songs, they also innovated and experimented, creating a blend of something new and old. I can be seen in tracks like "Sulk" where it has a generic calm-before-the-storm structure, but the band makes it feel so fresh and new. The band also shows great improvement on their musicianship. Thom Yorke soars with his falsetto on tracks like "High and Dry" and the three guitar onslaught is shown best on the track "Just". The amazing thing about the album is that any or the tracks could be radio hits, but that doesn't stop them from being unique and have incredible depth. Another thing that keeps the songs fresh is that they are deep and on multiple listens, there can be new things to listen to. Overall, this is either the second best or even the best Radiohead album created. It's a rare breed and it should be listened by anyone with an interest in music.
