California duo featuring the lyrics and vocals of Annie Hardy, Giant Drag manage to rock with a druggy groove, as well as shimmer with some great shoegazing that never takes itself too seriously. Especially on the amazing "Pretty Little Neighbor" and "This Isn't It", Hardy sounds like the female Jagger that Liz Phair always dreamed of being. Brooding ("High Fences in Places"), Mocking ("You're Full of Shit") and downright brittle ("Kevin is Gay") Giant Drag handle a slew of styles with power and spite. Hearts and Unicorns is a record that keeps eating at you with repeated listens, until finally you're gone, but they're still there, laughing.
