The Excessives are a Vancouver, BC punk band that are living in the 70s. They play a style of hardcore punk that is reminiscent of the Sex Pistols, UK Subs, and the Dead Boys. The band includes current members of the Real MacKenzies and past members of such bands as Shutdown, Breach and the Hell Caminos. They put on a very decent grrrr-fuck you attitude and their songs are decent too. Not much creativity in the titles like “Knife Fight on the Beach and “Repeat Offender but there is actually quite a diversity between songs as well. One of my favorites is “Man Do I Ever H8 U, written like a Prince song but not sung like one. Diversity is something that a lot of these punk revivalists fail to do. Someone once said that punk is dead. Try telling that to groups like the Excessives.
