Ammunition is Tim Easton's fourth full-length album and third for the impressive New West label, home of Drive By Truckers. Tim had really proven himself with his Break Your Mother's Heart album but there are some somgs that are on Ammunition that really surpass anything he's done thus far. "Next To You" is one of those songs. It has the roots leanings in it but in essence it is a gentle pop ballad that would melt any girl's heart. Somehow he ropes Lucinda Williams into backing him up on "Back To The Pain". Their voices aren't perfect for each other but Williams does add a little dynamic to Ammunition. There is only one cover on the album, "Sitting On Top Of THe World", which Easton really makes fit into the album. Other songs like "Not Today" are simple enough on the surface but after as few as 2-3 listens the listener is turned into a fan. In fact Easton's music is mostly like this; the kind of music that takes a few listens to really appreciate. I think that is the primary reason that the general public haven't been exposed to him, yet.
