RecommendIt is always nice to go back this first Khanate record. Just the sheer force of it blew me away when I first heard it, and while they have churned out several other releases over the years, this remains their best. A pure assault by noise veterans Stephen O'Malley, James Plotkin, Tim Wyskida and Alan Dubin. Dubin's vocals more than hold their own against the power trio attack, with unnerving success. "Torching Koraviev" and "Under Rotting Sky" feature some of the most unhinged screaming ever waxed, fronting a brutal yet oddly melodic frenzy of sound. "Skin Coat" leaves few listeners standing as well. Aside from a panic attack, there are few moments in your life when you become edgy and begin sweating buckets while just sitting there. Listening to this record is one of those moments.
