Equal Vision seems to be taking an interest in the emo scene along with the likes of Victory records. What we have in Fairweather is a 5-piece band from the DC area that wanted to create music with energy and passion. What they have delivered with If The Move…Kill Them is a powerful and very interesting album. They state influences like the Cure, Sunny Day Real Estate and Lifetime but I would have to say that there is little evidence of the Cure in their music. The other two bands though, you can readily see and hear that the band grew up on. I mentioned that they fit into the emo category nicely but don’t let your guard down because there are some very powerful and energetic moments here. Jay’s vocals remind me of Saves The Day and the rest of the band has a very good ear for melody. Even in the powerful segments there are hummable riffs that pummel you. With the ever gentle Welcome to Last Year they remind this reviewer of Dashboard Confessional. Still a young band, Fairweather are out touring constantly building up a very loyal fanbase with their highly likeable emo punk. Look for Fairweather in your town this summer.

This was my most favorite band in high school. The follow up EP & album is amazing too. They broke up after the second album, and turned into "Olympia."
