I totally agree with you, yoadrienne. I think this second album was far superior than the first. If you want to get into Franz Ferdinand, use You Could Have It So Much Better as a starting point. Lovely album and very fun too.

Franz Ferdinand's second album is lack luster in the way that it thrilled the world in the previous record. This does not really mean to say that none of the songs have any special appeal, many of the songs including "Eleanor Put Your Boots On" are offbeat and bring to mind a Beatles-like approach to the new rock scene as it stands. Songs that fail to grab the ears would have to be "Do You Want To" and "Evil and a Heathen" with their over using of phrases that we have long since moved on from. The essential Franz Ferdinand which most people love is only available in small doses on "You Could Have It So Much Better" and really, that is sad. "Walk Away" has got to be one of the best unrealized hits of this album with the references to political figures keeping the mind sharp. And that's what we've come to expect from this band that has blown the fuse on rational thought.
