Nadja - Nadja
Originally a solo project from Aidan Baker (Die Stadt), this four song record explores darker, harsher sounds than you would normally hear from his usual ambient drone. In fact, Noise is always a wonderful riff away. Sharing vocals, this duo of Baker on guitar, drum machines, woods and strings and Leah Buckareff on bass, gently rock you to despair, slowly but surely. "Bug/Golem" and "Memory Leak" almost literally groan under the weight of sadness created. "Breakpoint" scalds both sinuses and hope. By the time we reach "Truth Becomes Death", there is no need to be convinced that horror is close by. It is pretty much all there is. Baker grows as an artist with each risk, and his vision was pretty massive before this record.
