I managed to drop my age about 17 years (making me 18 years of age) to get into the Taste Of Chaos tour here in Calgary earlier this year and actually enjoyed myself. The tight jeans got to me however. One of the first bands I caught was a young group from Phoenix, AZ called The Greeley Estates and they impressed the hell out of me for an opening act. Apparently I'm not the only one who feels this way. This young band puts touring in front of all other priorities trying to gain their fans by turning them onto their music in a live setting. One of the best things about this band is the awesome dynamic vocals of Ryan Zimmerman. He screams like the best of the screamo crowd and yet he's not afraid to sing too. Then there is the song arrangements. They have a radio-ready quality to them ("Life Is A Garden" is a fine example of what radio should pick up). Far From The Lies is the band's second full length album, the first for Record Collections and it is an impressive studio album. It may be a little polished for true hardcore fans and maybe a little too melodic, but I think its great. One of the better releases to come from this punk/hardcore arena in a while. If Greeley Estates keeps putting their fans first then I think this will be one of the next big punk bands to crossover to mainstream.
