Fugazi - Repeater
Repeater is arguably the most accessible Fugazi album to date (their first proper full-length album). Songs jump out and demand listening with their inventive, catchy guitar riffs as well as the thought provoking lyrics. Ian MacKaye (also responsible for the seminal Minor Threat) proves himself and his band mates as anti-rock gods. This album is done so well that you never have sit through a dull moment and each song just seems to seamlessly flow into the next. Sneering is absolutely necessary when singing along to "Merchandise" ("We owe you nothing"). The lovely bass lines in "Sieve-Fisted Find" are pure genius. This was not only a high time for the Washington DC scene but for hardcore music in general. Acceptance seemed to be garnered and people were actually discovering underground bands such as Fugazi. Despite numerous major label offerings, Fugazi was one of the only bands to stick true to their beliefs and forged on with their own Dischord label. Could be the reason why they are still around today. On the Cd issue there are 3 bonus tracks too.

While this isn't my usual cup of tea, I can totally see how it deserves it's classic status. Of all the post-hardcore I've heard released since 1990, about 90% of it seems to have been inspired by moments on Repeater. I actually enjoyed this album much more than I ever thought I would, and am satisfied in letting it introduce the band to me.

Repeater just gets better with age. I can't listen to it enough. I never get bored with it. Be proud Fugazi.
