Rootsy rock with a little bite and a little humor. It may not, in fact won’t, jump out at you as anything amazing, but No Vacancy is a great with beer, lazy afternoon listen, one as familiar as all your drinking buddies. ”House of Our Own” is a sly tribute to serious fucked up family, while “Ride With You” makes for a groovy, Stones’-y drinking/stumble-while-dancing song; “She’s A Woman” finds the band at its most earnest, while the lo-fi “Slow Time” ends the record on a jarring note. Jake Stigers is one guy you want to see on stage when you walk into a bar; on record, he merely whets your appetite for that bar. Recommended if you like: Rodney DeCRoo, Black Crowes, Bob Seger
