RecommendPsych-metal noise gods SunnO)) and Boris team up for a six song EP where they collaborate on all the tracks, with ok results. While the Ghost-like quite of “the shrinking Belle( Blue Sheep) seems like a retro breather in the middle of the set, the epic, massive “Etna” and “Blood Swamp” more than deliver the goods, with the perfect mix of the trippy and the brutal that we have come to expect from these giants. While the emphasis is oddly on the quiet–“N.L.T” and “Fried Eagle Mind” are sometimes barely even there–there is enough of two very big and very inspired bands here to made Altar an enjoyable set. More guitars!
