Anoice - Remmings
Debut record by a Tokyo outfit that adds viola and a live rhythm section to express its ambient collages. The nine utitiled cuts build off one another to create and atmosphere that is lonely but never cold. Especially on tracks six and seven, the viola and acoustic guitar bring a warmth that is winning. Ambient is one of those genres that you can rarely be neutral about. While this too make me want to crank up some hardcore after an hour of listening, Remmings is such a fresh mix of ambient and new composition that it would be an excellent place to start for anyone unfamiliar with the genre. This is a great, emotional debut.
