Celebrity - Mining For Twilight
I reviewed Celebrity's Lovesick a few years back and remember liking their mainstream sound quite a bit. Mining For Twilight is their follow-up album and it is an easy listen and something to get lost in for a while. The music is completely non-abrasive and actually package perfectly for mass consumption. Songs like "They Notice" go down easily with the melodic vocals and nice layered background instrumentation. The seem to take influence from the likes of U2 and Coldplay but manage to sound completely different. You might find a closer comparison to that of Snow Patrol with a hint of Interpol. Regardless, Mining For Twilight is a nicely done album. It has a lot of depressing topics but the music always manages to shine that ray of light in on the dark subjects. There isn't anything groundbreaking but the boys in Celebrity sure know how to craft a great song.
