Feathers create a lush stew of sound and atmosphere, tossing a little psychedelia, some disco, Devo and post-punk of the Fall/Talk Talk variety to create a whole universe of their own that is fun and creepy and quirky. Snychromy finds the Chicago trio following up last year’s Absolute Noon with a bit more space-age pop on their minds this time around. Don’t zone out too much during “ Iron Mountain” or you won’t be able to remember if you are in an episode of “PeeWee’s Playhouse” or in Eraserhead! Then the beauty of “AP9Parenthe)-Synthesis” kicks in and either place is fine, as long as the keys and the guitar fight their way through the mix like it’s 1980! “Mint Cairo” end the five song set with a funky hopeful jam, like Sly Stone would have made pre-smack.
