Orenda Fink was one half of the lovely Azure Ray. Her voice is amazing as shown on her debut album Invisible Ones. The great thing about Orenda is that she is a female singer/songwriter who doesn't bow to the typical sound you would imagine. She tends to sound very spiritual on this album. Opening track "Leave It All" suggests that no worldly possessions are necessary. The second track, "Invisible Ones Guard The Gate" is as stereotypical as Orenda gets, but the production on this track is amazing the way her vocals are layered. She gets a little heavier on "Bloodline", one of the best tracks on the album. While the album is fairly strong I think that it will only appeal to select individuals. Those people who go crazy over the likes of Tori Amos or Beth Orton would eat up Orenda Fink. It's good to see Saddle Creek branching out and signing an artist like Fink. Her fellow bandmate, Maria Taylor released an album earlier in 2005 as well. Check it out if you need more of the Azure Ray girls.
