Home Grown is another youthful punk band that can hardly contain their emotions. While they don’t whine like other unmentionable emo bands, they do have relationship problems. Oh, to be a teenager again. Home Grown is a band that I really didn’t want to like. I have no idea why but there was this stigmata that came with the band being like a Blink 182. But no matter how hard I tried to dislike the band I found myself bouncing along to their catchy relationship lyrics and honey-sweet pop punk guitar riffs. How can anyone resist a well done “Woooaahh, woah, wo (“Give It Up) chorus? Yeah, teens have emotional problems. I don’t. I think back to being a teen and can’t quite remember being as distraught as Home Grown though. My solution to be able to fully enjoy this album? Try not to listen to the lyrics and get absorbed in the catchy pop of the album. With lyrics like “I don’t want to be second best / I’ve waited too long / I just want a second chance to be your first again you can’t help feeling sorry for these guys who just can’t keep girlfriends. My advice to homegrown, find that one special girl and forget about the rest. Move on with your lyrics and you will be world class.
