Hot Water Music has been hyped up quite a bit for the last couple years and now is their time to shine. An Epitaph album that is bound to be heard by thousands of raving punks with many tours to follow. As a matter of fact, Hot Water Music has become known as one of the hardest working bands in punk today. With their Epitaph debut, HWM has a lot to live up to. What has happened with A Flight and A Crash is the band has incorporated all its punk roots as well as the emo styling that they have always somehow incorporated. It ends up being a very interesting listen and the key here is that it is very different. You may hear bits of bands like Jawbox and Boy Sets Fire but you can instantly recognize Hot Water Music as a band that is completely original. They wear their influences on their sleeves but there is no doubt that they are cutting edge. They push punk and hardcore boundaries further than they have been pushed in ages. The band realizes that having the push of punk mega-indie-label Epitaph behind them will only further their fanbase. This is an album that will most likely end up on many top 10’s for the year.
