H2O - Go
Any punk fan will recognize H2O. This is the band fronted by ex-Sick of it All roadie, Toby Morse and they are now going on to their fourth album and their first for MCA Records. Yes, they signed to a major label and let’s hope that it doesn’t spell disaster for this talented group of punks. Toby and his crew were bound and determined to capture the feel of their live show but in the studio and Go is the closest they have come to it. H2O is a band that loves the hardcore roots that it grew up on in New York City but they also have a hankering for the more melodic side of punk too. What you can expect on Go is more of what the fans have come to expect but the production value has shot through the roof. They have Matt Wallace (Faith No More, The Replacements) lending his ears for the production and it shows. The band also keep up with their thought provoking lyrics that they want to share with the world. So there is no sign of the band selling out their sound to MCA. Obviously the band has maintained all creative integrity and created the album of their career. The bonus track tailing “Underneath the Flames is Madonna’s “Like a Prayer.
