The first time I heard Seemless, I knew they had rhythm and grit. That was their EVR debut, a 2005 re-issue of their self-titled debut on Losing Face Records. While the new album What Have We Become is true to its predecessors' example, a progression and upgrade has been made in the overall production of the effort. Track two Cast No Shadow has the hard rock stability feel. Many chords travel in either direction of the Grungy Metal forum. But it's songs like “Numb” that add a new kind of vocal contribution, that I don't seem to remember on their last effort. The song starts off with a very comfortable drudging of strings and distortion, building just right for a ballsy-ass yelp. I haven't been surprised by a vocal grunt or lead in a while. I can't place it, but something is just odd about the guitar pitch and its combination with those moments when Leach (vocals) digs down deep. A full guitar sound is always a respectable basis, but what else is offered here? Certainly a new version of Bruce Dickinson, that's right I said it. Leach may not be MTV top40 material, but him and his gang certainly provide some exciting changes and melodies once again. Most of all, this record is suggested to drummers. Derek Kerswill balances the odd mix of 60's-90's Metal with some quick kick drums, and the occasional symbol slow down. This band, though still missing a tweak or two, is beginning to make the best of their talents. Get 'em while they're unknown, I foresee ridge-line ahead Next album is make or break time.

Ah... ha! You said you'd give it more than a 3. Consider your grade of 7.5 which on a balanced scale of 1 to 5 isnt much different than three! HAHA! However, also consider, their last effort was 2.5. They started par, they progressed towards respectable, and while I'll be patient considering this album just came out, I'm very siked to hear the next.

They are missing a development in their sound. I cant put my finger on it, but they are definitely on track. The post hardcore mix really did them wonders here. IF only they could harness their grunge and slide in some more hardcore without trying too hard, you may in fact hear them on your local radio stations late night cock fight very soon.

HA 7.5 ... same thing as 3 out of 5!

Oh Brian, I think this album deserved much more than a 3 star. What Have We Become is actually my first exposure to the band and it's a little different than I was expecting on the EVR label. But the grit and rock that these guys have is really outstanding. It's the sort of rock I want to hear on the radio, (like that will ever happen).

[EDIT]I noticed that after too :p. Changed it to an 8. I'm used to the 5 scale.[/EDIT]
