RecommendPicture Sic Alps as Sparkelhorse on a depressing day, if that is possible. Dingy grunge, with psychedelic sludge mixed in, this manages to sound retro and diseased at the same time. Which means it is amazing, and full of what makes rock holy. Now a duo consisting of Mike Donovan and Matthew Martman, Sic Alps at the time of this recording were a trio, with only Donovan involved. It was recorded in that classic kind of claustrophobic, basement tapes way gave 60’s punk like Seeds and Music Machine their guts; like Sparklehorse and Wooden Wand, that tight feel walks the line between madness and glory, and gives sic Alps a timeless feel. This rocks, mocks and inspires, and you need this NOW
